Patrick’s British village was invaded by raiders. He was kidnapped and then taken to Ireland, where he was sold into slavery as a young man.
As a slave, he worked as a shepherd for six years, finally escaping and making his way back to his native Britain.
He then returned to Ireland several years later as a Christian missionary, serving the people there and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ!
St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect way to learn more about Irish culture, Christian history, and interesting traditions and legends surrounding this day.
